La Superba, looking over the rooftops of Genoa
The team at Swiss architectural firm Zingg-Lamprecht were entrusted with the interior design of a 250-metre apartment looking out over the rooftops of the lively, authentic port city of Genoa. We talked to the architects to find out what they had to say about the project.
The clients wanted to create a home away from home, a place that would be a sanctuary to retreat to, particularly during summer weekends.
The backdrop is a historic palazzo dating back to the late 1800s and the brief was to design a contemporary, liveable décor that was in harmony with the elegance of the building itself and focused on natural materials. Elegant, contemporary design and natural materials? It was a match made in heaven for us, so we were delighted to be part of the project, providing our stone for the beautiful bathrooms.
Can you tell us in your own words a little about the project. What was the inspiration behind the design?
The idea was to maintain the classic elements and the charm of the building, which was constructed in 1890, in the interior design. The client put a lot of emphasis on using natural, high-quality materials, subtle color schemes and "Made in Italy" products.
Why did you choose Salvatori?
Our client was very clear about wanting the best the market has to offer, and her desire to specifically include Italian manufacturers was perfectly fulfilled with Salvatori. Salvatori's position as the ultimate manufacturer of spa environments naturally contributed to this.
What particularly appeals about the Salvatori products you chose?
The simplicity, the understated design with beautifully crafted details such as the faucet, the incomparable materials and, of course, Salvatori's excellent reputation for customer focus and quality of collaboration were all key factors.
How did you find the experience of working with Salvatori?
Unsurprisingly, the collaboration was excellent. Like the design, materials, and craftsmanship, the collaboration was world-class.
Is the client happy with the end result?
The client is very satisfied with the result.
And, a final question that is a little off-topic, but are you happy to share your 10 favourite songs that you listen to when you’re designing or looking for inspiration?
Without naming individual songs, in general calming and relaxing piano music or bossa nova / bar jazz / lounge music gives us the right inspiration in a creative process.
