Giovanni
Giovanni knows natural stone like the back of his hand. At the age of 15 he started working in the stone sector. It was the natural choice, living in an area dominated by the famed Bianco Carrara marble quarries. At the age of 27 he moved to Salvatori and, as they say, the rest is history …
In the course of a quarter of a century, he has watched the company transform and his own role has also evolved from working in the factory with machines to treating and providing the finishing touches to our growing range of home accessories before they are packed.
Giovanni describes himself as patient, a trait he believes is important in his work which requires a methodical, gentle approach as even though natural stone is tough and resistant, it still requires a gentle touch and careful handling when working with it.
What do you like about your work?
I like the variation. I don’t just do the same thing day after day. Every day is filled with many different types of tasks.
Even after all these years, I am still learning, especially because we are always adding new products which are quite different from what we used to work with.
And, I like the environment and the people I work with. I’ve been here almost 25 years so I’m obviously happy!
